ABOUT

What to Expect...

Here is a brief description of what working with me will look like:

Your free phone consultation (20 minutes): Our first step will be to meet by phone for a consultation. This will give us the opportunity to connect before we meet for our first session. You can tell me more about what's going on and I can tell you how I might be able to help. If, after our discussion, we feel like it will be a good fit, we will schedule our first session.

Comprehensive assessment (50 minutes): During the intake session, I will gather detailed information from you to help me determine the best plan for our work together.

Individual therapy sessions (50 minutes): Individual sessions will be set at a frequency that is most appropriate for you and your goals. In these sessions, you will learn about the thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that are feeding your anxiety and will build new skills to change these patterns.

Phasing out of therapyTherapy is not meant to continue indefinitely but should be time-limited, based on when you meet your goals. As you make progress in therapy and reach these goals we will work together to decide when you are ready to "graduate" from therapy. Of course, you will ultimately decide this based on when you feel you are ready.

Online Psychotherapy

Online psychotherapy is mental health counseling provided through secure video sessions by a licensed therapist. It follows the same professional standards as in-office therapy but allows you to attend sessions from anywhere using a phone, tablet, or computer. Therapy is available only to clients who live in states where the therapist is licensed (in my case, California and North Carolina).

Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy, especially CBT for anxiety and PTSD. Many clients value its convenience and the comfort of receiving therapy from their own home. However, online therapy may not be a good fit for those who are uncomfortable with technology, lack privacy, or have unreliable internet access.

Sessions are HIPAA-compliant and easy to join via a link sent by email. A free video consultation is available to help determine if online therapy is the right fit for you.

Rates & Insurance

Rates:

  • Initial 20-minute phone consultation: free
  • Individual therapy session (50 minutes): $200
  • Payment: cash, checks, credit cards, HSA/FSA cards accepted

Insurance:

I am considered an out-of-network provider. This means that I am not contracted with any insurance companies. However, depending on your insurance coverage, you may still be able to receive reimbursement for a portion of the session cost.

Since insurance coverage varies, I would encourage you to contact your insurance company to find out about out-of-network benefits prior to our first session.

If you do have out-of-network coverage, I would provide you with a "superbill" (i.e. receipt with details) after each session and you would it submit it to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please note that the if you choose to submit your claims to your insurance company, you will still be responsible for the session fee at the time of service.

Getting Started

If you are interested in getting started with individual online therapy and would like to know more, please contact me to schedule your free 20-minute consultation. This will give us an opportunity to connect.

During this discussion, I can learn more about how life is going for you. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about the therapy process and how I can help you. I would also love to give you the details on how we can use CBT and exposure techniques to help you improve your anxiety. If you are ready to make some changes, send me a message and we can start this process. I look forward to hearing from you!
